I have spent a good many years since--too many, I think--being ashamed about what I write. I think I was forty before I realized that almost every writer of fiction and poetry who has ever published a line has been accused of wasting his or her God-given talents. If you write (or paint or dance or sculpt or sing, I suppose), someone will try to make you feel lousy about it, that's all. I'm not editorializing, just trying to give you the facts as I see them.

-Stephen King, On Writing.

I'm a twenty-something professional author from Omaha, Nebraska. Proceeds from my writing, mostly my ongoing web fiction Tales of MU, are my main source of income. I also write a comedic fantasy space opera called Void Dogs, an urban fantasy in miniature called Tribe, and other stories.

Given the state of the publishing industry and the dismal returns it offers for authors who can even make it through the system, I believe that independent and online publishing will only continue to gain in popularity.
